It revolves around the titular family consisting of widowed matriarch Violet (Ruth Gemmell) and her eight children: Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth. With Regency England’s high society as its backdrop, the siblings navigate love and romance.
The first season focused on the eldest daughter Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and her undeniable connection with Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page). Bridgerton Season 2 then switches its focus to eldest brother Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and his tempestuous romance with Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley).
With the above romances ending in happy ever afters, Bridgerton continues to explore the lives of other characters with season 3 revolving around Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton.
Having heard Colin’s unpleasant remarks about her in Bridgerton Season 2, Penelope has sworn any romantic feelings she might have for the third Bridgerton son is over. The youngest Featherington child, who’s actually behind London high society’s scandalous society newsletter Lady Whistledown, has also decided it’s time for her to marry.
Penelope, however, lacks the confidence to socialise with eligible bachelors, which obviously will make finding an ideal husband the more difficult. Enter Colin, who, after returning from his summer travels, is sporting a new look and a new attitude that can easily be translated as charming.
Unfortunately, the person who has always given him attention no longer provides the same heartwarming appreciation. To retain their friendship, he offers to help Penelope unleash her inner goddess, which, of course, hastens the process of finding a good match for marriage.
As his lessons become way too helpful, Colin must confront his growing feelings for Penelope. The latter’s relationship with Eloise (Claudia Jessie), Penelope’s best friend and Colin’s sister, is also set to become more complicated after their major falling out back in season 2.
With Penelope’s presence growing in the ton, the anonymous writer is also bound to experience more difficulties in keeping her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.
